In aqueous degreasing four quantities work together: temperature, time, chemistry and mechanics. They can be traded against each other: less heat for more time, less cleaner for more flow. How much of what is usually a matter of experience.
The calculator uses a reference point every plant already has: the specification of the chemical supplier. Added to it is what that specification applies to: how soiled the parts are and how clean they have to become. Comparing this with the actual condition gives the answer that counts on the shop floor: how far the residual grease sits above the target value.
